Ozil, who praised Giroud and joked who taught him to score like that
Olivier Giroud scored a beautiful goal to give France the lead against Poland. Midfielder Ozil, who used to be teammates with Giroud in Arsenal, was also happy with Giroud’s goal.
Ozil left Arsenal in January 2021 and was famous as one of the best midfield creators in the Premier League.
After Giroud’s goal yesterday, Ozil took to his social media account to write, “Awesome goal, who taught you?”, along with a laughing emoji.
Giroud’s scoring style was similar to Ozil’s famous scoring style, so the former German midfielder joked while praising his former teammate.
In a match against Liverpool, Ozil once scored a goal without putting the ball over Mignolet, the Liverpool goalkeeper. The goal was one of his best goals.
In an interview with Goal, Ozil said of his trademark scoring style: “A player who is always trying and looking for something new.”
“Now this style of scoring is what I want to do on the pitch and I’ve seen it work now. With this technique, when you hit the ball harder, it’s faster and harder to stop,” he said.
Giroud has surpassed Henry as France’s all-time top scorer.
