Japan will build a space elevator by 2050
The Japanese company Obayashi has announced that it will build a space elevator by 2050, which will be 96,000 kilometers (60,000 miles) long.
From that elevator, humans will be able to be transported to the space station, and it will be 1 place that can transport astronauts to Mars.
“Cables will be used in the construction of the elevator, and it will be pre-calculated and created with computer technology. Obayashi said. If space elevators come into existence, we will be able to travel outside the world without the need for spaceships.
The idea of a space elevator is not new, and since the 19th century, 1 Russian scientist has said that idea.
But the space elevators require very strong and rigid cables, which is why this delay is happening.
Obayashi is not the only company trying to build a space elevator.
In 2012, Michael Laine, a former NASA contractor, raised $110,353 to build a space elevator.
