Brazil fines Apple another $19 million for selling iPhones without chargers

In September, Brazil’s justice ministry fined Apple $2.34 million, ordering it to sell iPhones without a charger. Now, with that case, the court like Sao Paulo has fined Apple again.

A Brazilian consumer organization has filed a lawsuit, saying that after buying an iPhone, consumers must also buy a charger. This time, Apple was fined $19 million.

Judge Caramuru Afonso Francisco ordered Apple to install chargers for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 buyers who sold them in the past two years.

In addition, the charger will be installed for the next products to be sold. Now, the court decision has not yet been approved and can still be appealed.

For the reason that Apple does not destroy the environment, since 2020, iPhones have not included a charger, but only included a Lighting to USB-C cable. After that, other smartphone companies followed Apple’s path.
