NASA’s future spacecraft will be able to travel at a speed of 1 million miles per hour

NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC) is developing 2 new spacecraft technologies. The new Ion Drives are 10 times better in terms of performance and 1 thousand times higher in energy.

Therefore, NASA’s future spacecraft will be able to travel through space at a speed of 1 million miles per hour.

The previously built Voyager 1 spacecraft had a top speed of 38,000 miles per hour, with the help of a Chemical Rocket and a Gravitational Slingshot.

Juno, Helios I and Helios II spacecraft can fly at speeds of 150,000 miles per hour using gravitational boosts. The recently built Parker Solar Probe can travel 430,000 miles per hour.

Now NASA is building a faster spacecraft. At 1 million miles per hour, it would take much faster time to travel to planets like Mars.

Scientists have calculated that the spacecraft will be able to travel to Mars in about 40 days.
